A list of 82 sites of coal gas generators in Ohio. These plants produced gas for street lights in the communities in which they were located. The production of one million cubic feet of gas also produced about 800 gallons of liquid coal tar, which is a carcinogen. TOWNGAS was developed from a database from Radian Corporation along with information from the Ohio Historical Society and various public libraries.Please keep in mind that the database is no longer maintained and may contain inaccurate or outdated information. Therefore, Ohio EPA disclaims any responsibility for wrong or misleading entries.
